Role Overview:

The Finance and Planning Controller is responsible for the overall financial control, planning, and performance management of NetBet.

This role ensures robust financial governance, accurate and timely delivery of financial reports, and high-quality planning and analysis to support strategic decision-making.

The Finance and Planning Controller will oversee all accounting and FP&A functions, manage the timely completion of statutory audits, and drive continuous improvement through process automation and efficiency projects.

The Controller will also play a key role in ongoing strategic and structural initiatives, such as domiciliation projects, transfer pricing, and intellectual property structuring, acting as a key deputy to the CFO.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Financial Control & Accounting Oversight

  • Oversee all accounting operations and reporting led by the Head of Finance in Malta. ï‚· Ensure timely and accurate completion of statutory audits, coordinating closely with auditors and advisors.
  • Maintain strong internal financial controls, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and process discipline across entities.
  • Supervise the creation of monthly management accounts and ensure full reconciliation and consistency with group reporting.
  • Manage and review statutory filings, financial statements, and group consolidations.

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Lead the FP&A function across the Group and managing the FP&A personnel.
  • Oversee and be involved in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and management reports.
  • Provide strategic insights to the CFO and senior management through variance analysis and performance reviews.
  • Support commercial and operational teams with financial modelling and scenario analysis.

Strategic and Cross-Border Projects

  • Support the CFO in the domiciliation of entities ensuring financial, legal, and tax compliance.
  • Drive transfer pricing initiatives and ensure accurate inter-company recharges and documentation.
  • Oversee intellectual property structuring projects and collaborate with tax, legal, and external consultants.
  • Contribute to finance process automation and systems enhancement projects to improve efficiency and data integrity.

Governance & Compliance

  • Ensure group financial policies, controls, and procedures are fully implemented and adhered to.
  • Coordinate with the Head of Finance to meet all regulatory, tax, and statutory obligations.
  • Support the CFO in maintaining high standards of governance and risk management across the finance function.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Manage and develop the Head of Finance and FP&A Personnel, ensuring clear accountability and performance.
  • Foster strong collaboration between the Finance teams in Malta, the UK and Romania.
  • Act as the right hand to the CFO, ensuring the smooth running of the finance department.

Person Specifications:

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CPA) with 5+ years of experience in finance leadership roles.
  • Strong technical background in accounting, consolidation, and audit management.
  • Proven experience managing FP&A and financial control in a multi-entity or international context.
  • Experienced in transfer pricing, corporate structuring, and process automation.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
  • Hands-on and delivery-driven, with strong attention to detail and deadlines.
  • Prior experience working in the iGaming industry is considered a great asset. 
  • Proven experience in budgeting, forecasting, KPI ownership, and management reporting.
  • Prior experience in presenting to and working with C-level executives is a strong advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of financial systems (e.g., ERP, BI tools) and advanced Excel skills. ï‚· Experience with data visualisation tools such as Power BI and Tableau is a great asset.
  • Familiarity with automation tools, AI-based analytics, or financial modelling solutions is also advantageous.
